Canada Express Entry Visa Process

Canada has a total of ten provinces, and each of them run their own immigration pathways called Provincial Nominee Programs or PNPs. As the provinces have their own unique demographic and economic needs, their immigration programs are designed to address these needs and meet their immigration objectives. Their application procedure and eligibility criteria also vary greatly, so prospective candidates must check with the provincial government websites to determine their eligibility.

In January 2015, Canada Express Entry was introduced to manage permanent residency applications under some of Canada’s major economic migration programs. Since then, a number of Canadian provinces and territories modified their immigration streams aligned them with Express Entry. This means that some provinces in Canada require prospective applicants to first create an express entry profile to meet the basic eligibility criteria for the PNP. Express entry follows an electronic process and is considered to be one of the fastest ways to get permanent residency Canada.

An applicant who receives a provincial nomination via a PNP program that is aligned with Federal Express Entry is awarded 600 additional points over their existing comprehensive ranking scores. A provincial nomination certificate is a guarantee to receive an Invitation to Apply in the next CRS draw. Provincial nominations issued under express entry are known as enhanced nominations.
