Manitoba invites 242 immigration candidates | Apply Now for Provincial Nomination for PR

Express Entry Candidates
Skilled workers, and international student graduates who filed an Expression of Interest with Manitoba were invited in the latest provincial nominee program draw

Manitoba draw Manitoba has sent out another round of invitations to immigration candidates who submitted Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles to their provincial nominee program.

On February 15, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) invited 242 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence. This is Manitoba’s second draw in two weeks.

The invitations, or Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), went to candidates in the following three provincial streams:

Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 182
Skilled Workers Overseas: 27

Out of the 242 LAAs issued, a total of 15 went to Express Entry candidates.

Express Entry in Manitoba
Express Entry is Canada’s leading pathway for economic-class immigrants to obtain permanent residence.

The federal Express Entry system manages applications for three immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

Once a candidate is approved for one of these programs they are given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score that is calculated based on age, work experience, education and official language proficiency.

Only the highest-scoring candidates are issued invitations to apply for permanent residence through regular Express Entry draws.

The 15 Express Entry candidates selected by Manitoba will receive an additional 600 CRS points toward their overall score. This will effectively guarantee that they will receive an invitation in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

If Express Entry candidates want to be considered for a provincial nomination from Manitoba, they must have eligible work experience in an in-demand occupation, among other requirements.

They must also submit an Expression of Interest to the MPNP.

Manitoba Expression of Interest

Manitoba operates on an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Candidates vying for a provincial nomination through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas categories need to register an EOI with the MPNP.

An EOI is an online profile that ranks candidates out of a score of 1,000. Points are awarded for education, work experience, connections to Manitoba and proficiency in an official language, among other factors.

The MPNP selects a set number of the highest-scoring candidates to receive an LAA. Once invited, candidates can apply for a provincial nomination from Manitoba.

The following scores were required for the two skilled worker programs in the latest draw:

Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 525
Skilled Workers Overseas: 611
Skilled Worker Overseas and Skilled Worker in Manitoba

The Skilled Worker Overseas Category allows the MPNP to select and nominate skilled foreign workers who can help support Manitoba’s labour market.

Candidates must have an established connection to Manitoba such as close family or friends, previous education or work experience in the province, or an invitation through one of the MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives, among other requirements.

They do not need to be in Manitoba at the time of application in order to qualify.

The 27 candidates invited through the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream were invited directly by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

Candidates invited through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Category must be working in Manitoba and have a full-time, permanent job offer from their employer, among other criteria.
