Here are the most recent provincial immigration draws in Canada

Over the past week, two Canadian provinces announced the results of their Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws, and Quebec recently held a draw through Arrima.

Most Canadian provinces and territories (except Quebec and Nunavut) have their own PNPs. Through these programs, interested candidates may be invited to run for the provincial nomination. While provincial nomination itself is not equivalent to permanent residency, it can significantly increase your chances of obtaining permanent residency. For example, a PNP candidate nominated with an Express Entry profile will receive an additional 600 points. You may also be invited to request specific PNP invitation rounds.

When the PNP was established in 1998, it only received 400 immigrants, but thanks to its success, it now receives more than 80,000 immigrants each year. The increase in PNP enrollment in Canada is due to the fact that the federal and provincial governments see it as a powerful tool to boost the country's economy.

Quebec has more autonomy over its immigration system than any other province and therefore does not participate in the PNP.

People who want to immigrate through the province's immigration system generally must submit personal data to an expressions of interest group called Arrima. Provincial officials then invite candidates whose profiles meet the immigration program's criteria. Invited candidates apply for a provincial nomination or a Quebec Certificate of Election (CSQ) in Quebec.

Here are the results of last week's PNP, along with details of the recent Arrima draw in Quebec.

Quebec

On May 5, Immigration Canada (MIFI) invited 30 candidates to apply for permanent selection under the Quebec General Skilled Worker Program (QSWP).

Candidates must have a profile in the Arrima system to express interest in points and have a valid job offer outside the Montreal metropolitan area.

British Columbia

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) held its weekly invitational competition on May 17. More than 175 BC immigration candidates have received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.

A total of 154 candidates were invited by lottery. The candidates invited to participate in this draw belong to the subcategories Skilled Worker, International Graduate and Initial Level, and Self-Taught, with a minimum required score of between 77 and 123 in each province. The province also held three separate lotteries for candidates in specific occupations. A total of 21 educators who qualified for the 'Skilled Worker' and 'International Graduate' subcategories were invited. BC also invited an undisclosed number of healthcare professionals who may be eligible for the Skilled Worker, International Graduate or Entry Level, and Self-Taught Skills subcategories. All of these draws require entrants to have a minimum provincial score of 62.

Prince Edward Island

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) invited a total of 153 immigration candidates on May 20.

Express Entry and Work Impact candidates received the most invitations, with 137. The remaining 16 invitations were sent to business-influence candidates who scored at least 62 points in each province.

PEI holds drawings once a month and publishes its schedule for the coming year.
