Canada invited 636 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence.

On June 22, Canada invited 636 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence.

All invited candidates have been previously nominated to the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of at least 752. The minimum score is relatively high, and Express Entry candidates automatically add 600 points. Their scores are received. Appointed by the county committee. If there is no nomination, the candidate with the lowest score will receive 152 basis points.

In previous draws, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 932 Express Entry candidates to score at least 796 points.

Will this be the last draw for the PNP?

Last April, Fraser announced that Express Entry invitations for Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates would resume in early July, but no specific date was given at the time.

Since September 2021, IRCC has only held draws for PNP candidates. IRCC has suspended draws for CEC and FSWP candidates to reduce the Express Entry backlog, which was exacerbated by the pandemic.

The portfolio of applications for all three of IRCC's Express Entry programs has improved since the announcement. The number was 31,603 as of June 1, compared with 40,889 at the end of April.

While the draw for all shows may resume within two weeks that may not end the PNP giveaway forever. Before the pandemic, IRCC held occasional PNP-only giveaways. IRCC sees PNP as a priority to support economic development regions across Canada.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is the application management system for three of Canada's most popular immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. PNP candidates in the Express Entry pool are already eligible for at least one of these programs.

Express Entry ranks candidate profiles using a points-based system, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The highest scoring candidates will receive an Invitation To Apply (ITA) and can then apply for permanent residency.

After a candidate submits an application, an IRCC officer reviews the application and makes a decision. The officer will request biometric information and may schedule an interview or request additional documentation.

If the application is approved, IRCC will issue a Certificate of Permanent Residence (COPR). Authorized permanent residents can complete the landing process. If you are outside of Canada, you can use pre-arrival services to help you start settling in Canada.
