Look at the latest Provincial Nominee Program draw results in British Columbia and Alberta.

Last week, B.C. and Alberta announced the results of new draws for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Most Canadian provinces and territories (except Quebec and Nunavut) have their own PNPs. Through these programs, interested candidates may be invited to apply for provincial nomination. While provincial nomination itself is not equivalent to permanent resident status, it can greatly increase your chances of obtaining permanent resident status.

For example, a nominated PNP candidate with an Express Entry profile will receive an additional 600 points. You may also be invited to apply for specific PNP invitation rounds. In the final Express Entry draw on June 22, Canada invited 636 PNP candidates to enter with at least 752 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.

Here is a look back at the most recent PNP invitation rounds held across Canada.

Alberta

The Alberta Advantage Immigrant Program (AAIP) invited 150 Express Entry candidates to apply for Alberta Express Entry on June 16.

Express Entry candidates need a CRS score of at least 306 to be invited to apply for an Alberta nomination.

Factors that increase the likelihood of nomination include: work experience; Canadian education; or a job offer in Alberta. It is also helpful if a family member already lives in Alberta, such as a father, son or brother.

Candidates must also meet the eligibility requirements for expedited filing. The minimum CRS score to be considered is 300. Express Entry candidates may receive an invitation if they indicate in their profile that they are interested in moving to Alberta permanently.

British Columbia

British Columbia typically hosts weekly invitations to the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

The final round of invitations to the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) took place on June 21. In these draws, a total of 125 candidates received invitations to compete for the provincial nomination. This week's giveaways focus on specific areas of activity.

A total of 101 candidates were invited through a technical draw. These candidates must meet the requirements of one of the Express Entry BC or British Columbia Skilled Immigration categories administered through the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Invited candidates must score at least 85 points.

The country has also invited candidates for the following majors:

·        14 Early Childhood Educators and Assistants (NOC 4214) with at least 60 points;

·        10 health workers with at least 60 points.
